FAQ

What should I do differently after a Labor Day weekend crash compared to a typical weekday accident?

The basics of what to do after any crash stay the same: get medical attention, document the scene, exchange information, and report it. But a holiday weekend crash comes with a few practical wrinkles worth knowing about.

  • Police response may be slower due to higher call volume, so don't assume no report means no record. You can often file one afterward.
  • Urgent care and ER wait times tend to be longer, but don't skip medical evaluation just because it's inconvenient. Gaps in treatment can be used against you later.
  • Witnesses are harder to track down after a holiday, since people travel and scatter. Get contact information at the scene if you possibly can.
  • Insurance adjusters may be slower to respond during the holiday, so be patient but persistent in following up, and be careful about what you say to an adjuster.

None of this changes your rights, but it can change how smoothly the early days of your claim go. If you were in a Labor Day crash and aren't sure what steps to take next, we're happy to help you sort through it.
