FAQ
What’s the difference between No-Fault (PIP) benefits and a liability claim?
In Michigan auto accidents, these are two separate—but related—paths:
- No-Fault (PIP) benefits come from your own insurance and can cover medical expenses, wage loss, replacement services, and attendant care—regardless of who caused the crash.
- Liability (third-party) claims are against the at-fault driver and may compensate you for pain and suffering and excess losses not covered by PIP.
Understanding how these claims interact is critical. Mistakes with one can negatively affect the other if not handled correctly.
